Where should your open model run?
Open model hosting moves some operational work to a service, but the billing model still matters. Compare the workload at steady state and during idle periods.
Use the exact model
Pin a version, configuration, and representative input set. Confirm output quality and throughput on every host. A model with the same name may be served with different settings, so test the actual endpoints.
Understand the meter
Check whether charges follow tokens, execution time, or dedicated capacity. Include minimum billing, cold starts, concurrency, and idle cost where applicable. Use current official pricing for the deployment mode you plan to buy.
Include the operating tradeoff
Compare logs, controls, regions, support, and migration effort. Ask which balance or credits cover that specific endpoint. The cheapest pilot setup may not be the best production option when traffic and reliability requirements grow.
