A chat product with a sensible budget.

A simple interface can hide a growing bill. Long histories, file uploads, retries, and inactive sessions all change the economics of an AI chat application.

01

Choose one job to do well

Start with a specific user problem and a narrow feature set. Measure a completed conversation rather than a single message. Include authentication, hosting, storage, and abuse prevention in the first budget.

02

Bound the expensive parts

Set limits on conversation length and uploaded content. Keep API keys on the server and enforce per-user usage rules there. Trim irrelevant history only after checking that the quality remains acceptable.

03

Grow from measured use

Test cost under typical and heavy usage before adding a generous plan. Keep clear billing alerts and a fallback when a budget is exhausted. Discounted credits can help a pilot, but they don't replace a sustainable plan for a growing user base.
